A busy week....

Seems like I have had a fairly manic Council related week so far, and it's only Thursday!! To give you an insight:

MONDAY
Attended Thetford Community Ballpark and undertook weekly litter pick and clearance of rubbish etc (I do this on a self employed basis). Progressed casework, including; Reported Kimms Belt potholes again, and Sweyn Close / Fulmerston Road pot-holes / messed up road. Reported complaints from residents about conifer hedge in someones garden at Bracken Road. Promoted Thetford Foodbanks shortage of food and appealed for donations.Attended Town Council Amenities Committee meeting at 5pm, discussed state of play areas, update on skatepark situation, agreed to community group donation requests including one for Sort It - £250 for publicity materials, Redcastle Action Group - £250 for leaflets etc to promote meetings and possibly £250 for a local dance group, should they supply additional paperwork required. I then went up to the Croxton Road Residents Group meeting to discuss issues in this part of town.

TUESDAY
Reported issues at Prior Stephen Way to Breckland Council which were picked up from resident residents meeting - bollards needed to prevent unauthorised access by vehicles and reported issues to do with a house along Kimms Belt and the burning of rubbish etc. Attended Breckland Youth Advisory Board meeting in Dereham at 5pm to discuss the funding of youth projects across the District (I am the Voluntary & Community sector representative for Breckland) then rushed back to Thetford to attend Town Council Planning Committee meeting at 7pm and raised concerned on behalf of residents about a change of use application to change a house in St Martins Way from residential, into a registered child-minding premises. Promoted Breckland's switch and save scheme. Progressed election leaflet designed - and got a Portuguese friend, and a Polish friend to translate some material into their respective languages. Telephoned Chair of Redcastle residents group to discuss funding options for group and play area project.

WEDNESDAY
Met with Chairman of Barnham residents group to discuss recent priorities, including Charles Burrell school site, Pine Close shops, funding for residents group, weekly surgeries commencing and spoke about some specific resident issues. Then went to meet with Ellis Clarke, former Town Clerk for Thetford Borough Council for many many years during the over-spill (will blog about that separately). Attended Town Council Personnel Committee meeting at 5pm to discuss staffing arrangement for Guildhall and Carnegie Rooms and discussed market coverage etc. Then went to Wetherspoons for a friends birthday.

THURSDAY
Attended Safer Thetford Action Group meeting at 10am. Updated group on work at Redcastle in relation to dog fouling and instances of anti-social behaviour, including drug dealing.
